Synopsis
The documentary series tells the story of Lionel Scaloni, the only coach in the history of world football to win a continental title (Copa América 2022), an intercontinental title (Finalissima 2022 against Italy) and a World Cup (Qatar 2022).
After retiring as a player, he struggles to establish himself a a coach and ends up coaching the youth team of an amateur club in Mallorca. Jorge Sampaoli call him as the «opponent analyst» for the National Team, but Argentina´s failure at Russia 2018 leaves Argentina as it lowest point in history:
– 28 years without an international title
– 34 years without being World Champions
– Messi determined to never be a part of the team again
No one wanted to take on the cooaching role in such a dire situation, and Scaloni is left in charge as the interim coach. No one supports him: neither the press, nor the fans, nor the veterans. However, this lo-profile underdog manages to achieve a 36-game unbeaten streak and in just 18 months reverses all the years of darkness for the Argentine National Team, even becoming FIFA´s Best Coach in 2022.
